Depending on what the humidity pressure is we can mitigate some of it using SealGreen E10 epoxy Sealer Vapor Barrier.
Something to consider before coating:
1. Is it humidity or actual water coming from the bottom of the concrete?
a. If it is water the coating will not work, it will peel off overtime. If this is the case you need to look at the surroundings of the building to see where the water is coming from. All dirt around the building should be inclining away from the building. All gutters need to drain away from the building several feet (3 feet is recommended) and all sprinklers should not be spraying the building when irrigating. Physical water is building under the slab, and it needs to be drained somehow before any coating is applied.
b. If it is humid a coating could mitigate the transfer depending on the level of humidity pressure. Humidity can come from the bottom of the concrete if there is humidity under the concrete (check the outside of the building for water penetration under the slab), or it can build on the floor surface when the concrete is exposed to warmer weather and builds humidity. Just like a cold drink can when taken out of the refrigerator to a warm room it builds humidity on the surface of the can.
Once you determine and mitigate the source of water or humidity and its level you can seal the floor, the sealing process is as follows:
Process:
1. Note – If the floor has any type of paint or coating it will have to be removed. Typical removal is by grinding the floor with a concrete grinding machine. Tool rental places usually rent them.
2. Wash the floor with SealGreen Color Stain Primer Cleaner – video https://youtu.be/UqcYSC5-Y_s.
3. Allow the floor to dry for 48 hours before applying any coating. It is recommended to move the air in the room by using fans during drying time.
4. After 48 hours the floor should be dry and clean. Know you can apply by rolling the first coat of SealGreen E10 Epoxy Vapor Barrier Sealer – Video https://youtu.be/Os3WhFp_e6c.
5. Once the first coat is applied allow it to dry overnight and then apply a second coat. The more coats the more the humidity will be mitigated.
5. After you complete the sealer application allow the floor to dry for 24 hours before opening the floor to regular foot traffic.
