We recommend that you present this question to the manufacturer of the thinnset that you are planning to use.
Typically to prepare a concrete floor for a thinnset we recommend the following:
1. The concrete floor should not have any paint or coating over it so the thinnest can adhere to the floor.
2. We recommend that you wash the concrete floor. Make sure that the surface is NOT coated or sealed:
a. Apply SealGreen Color Stain Primer to wash the floor.
b. Scrub the floor with SealGreen Extra Heavy Duty Green Scrubbing Pad
c. Rinse the floor if it is outside with a pressure washer or use a hose and a shop wet/dry vacuum to collect the water inside.
d. Allow the floor to dry for at least 24 hours before any thin set is applied.
