REPLY FOR YOUR NEW PAVER KENNEL AREA.

For your project, we recommend first washing the pavers and pea gravel with SealGreen Kennel Cleaner. The cleaner dissolves urine crystals that may be present in the pavers and gravel, helping to eliminate urine odors. Many customers continue using SealGreen Kennel Cleaner regularly to maintain a clean, odor-free area. The cleaner is environmentally safe and can be used around pets and landscaping.

After cleaning, allow the pavers to dry completely before applying SealGreen Kennel Sealer. This penetrating sealer will not change the color or appearance of the pavers or make the surface slippery.

Do the pavers need to be cleaned or just pressure washed prior to sealing?

Yes. We always recommend washing the surface before sealing it. Apply SealGreen Kennel Cleaner, then rinse the surface with a pressure washer using a green tip and no more than 3,000 psi.

How long does the sealer take to dry - how long until the dogs can use it?

After washing, allow the pavers to dry naturally, usually overnight. Once the sealer has been applied, wait at least eight hours before allowing the dogs back into the area. Keep water off the pavers throughout the drying period.

is the wet look non-slip? Do you usually use wet look or dry in dog runs?

For the dogs’ safety, most kennels are not sealed with a wet-look sealer. We recommend a penetrating sealer because it does not form a surface film or change the appearance of the pavers, providing the best option for the dogs’ safety.

Here are some reasons we do not recommend or use the wet look:

Wet-look sealer typically needs to be reapplied every two years.
Wet-look sealer creates a glossy finish that requires an anti-skid additive to improve pet safety when the surface is wet.
Some wet-look sealers may develop a haze when they come into contact with dog urine.
